Presenter:

MARY KATHLEEN ROSE, BA, CMT, is a certified massage therapist with twenty-five years of experience in the holistic health field. She graduated from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in 1985 and has a B.A. in Individualized Studies in Integrative Healing from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She has taught massage, career development, and wellness education at a number of different massage schools, and supervises the massage therapy program at HospiceCare of Boulder & Broomfield Counties. She has a private practice in Comfort Touch®, Integrative Massage, and Shiatsu/Acupressure. Currently, she serves as a consultant/ trainer for an NIH-funded massage research project studying the effects of massage for people with spinal cord injuries. She is a member of the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia.

Mary Rose developed Comfort Touch®, a nurturing style of acupressure, in response
to the special needs of people in medical settings. It is safe and appropriate for a broad range of people including the elderly and the chronically and terminally ill. It can be practiced in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, hospices, skilled nursing facilities, home-care and rehabilitation settings. Participants in her trainings include massage therapists, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, certified nursing assistants and hospice volunteers. She has presented workshops in Comfort Touch® for the Colorado Hospice Organization and for the National Hospice Organization. Mary has over 12 years of experience as a facilitator for hospice-sponsored bereavement support groups.

Throughout the year Mary Rose works at various women’s fitness camps, practicing
and teaching massage. She has led workshops in yoga and relaxation, nutrition, herbology, stress management and healing through creative expression. Mary offers her expertise to people in numerous settings including the students and faculty of high schools and colleges, various community organizations, as well as employee wellness programs.

The program begins at 8:00 and concludes at 3:30. There will be a short break in the morning and another in the afternoon, both determined by Mary Rose. Lunch (on your own) is approximately from 11:15 – 12:15. Completed evaluations will be collected and Verification of Attendance certificates will be distributed at the end of the day.

Bodywork/Massage Therapists: 6.0 Contact Hours.
This program is co-sponsored with Mary Kathleen Rose, an approved provider for continuing education under the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), #283897-00. Mary Kathleen Rose will issue the Official Transcript and Certificate for 6.0 Contact Hours. Full attendance is required. No partial credit will be offered for partial attendance.

Nurses: 6.0 Contact (60 minute) Hours.
HEALTH ED is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Wisconsin Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval Program Committee, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Occupational Therapy Practitioners/Occupational Therapy Assistants:
AOTA - .6 CEUs (6.0 Contact Hours). HEALTH ED is an Approved Provider of Continuing Education for occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants by the American Occupational Therapy Association. The assignment of AOTA CEUs does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products, or clinical procedures by AOTA.
Physical Therapists/Physical Therapist Assistants: 6.0 Hours.
This program has been designed to meet the criteria for 6.0 hours of acceptable continuing education. Licensees are to determine the acceptability of the program based upon the rules of their licensing board.
